In order to help our students to develop their reading habit and improve their knowledge in various fields. The Library has a comprehensive collection of books for all the Departments. The members of the faculty and the students are expected to make use of the Library subject to the following guidelines.
All the students are eligible to become members of the library.
The Librarian under authority from the Principal shall look after the functioning and maintaining the library.
The library is kept open from 09.50A.M. to 5.00 P.M. on all working days.
Students should sit in the library only in the area provided for them.
Perfect silence should be maintained both inside the reading room and outside the library.
Hostel students can utilize the library upto 5.00P.M.
Periodicals, magazines and dailies in Tamil and English languages are available for the students to improve their general knowledge and the word power.
Reference books will not be lent out. However, they are made available for reference in the library itself.
Library cards are issued to students for borrowing books.
A maximum of two books can be borrowed at a time.
Books borrowed from the library can be retained for 15 days.
If there is no demand for those books from others retention period may be extended if the Librarian permits. However the books should be brought to the library for extension of time.
The borrowed books should be returned on or before the due date failing which a fine will be imposed. Absence to the class can't be cited as reason for the delay.
The books borrowed by the students should not be sub lent.
A heavy fine will be imposed on the students who cause damage to the books by acts such as dog collaring, marking, annotating and tearing pages or defacing in any manner.
If a book borrowed by any student or staff is lost or damaged or spoilt it should be replaced with a new book of the same title or the cost of a new book and 50% of the cost of the book lost or damaged as fine will be collected or as may be decided by the authorities.
Loss of library card should be immediately reported in writing to the Librarian. Duplicate library card will be issued on payment of Rs. 20/- per card.
The Librarian may recall any book at any time.
When a student applies for her Transfer Certificate, a 'no dues Certificate' has to be obtained from all the Departments including library in the consolidated format available for the purpose in the college office.
